Pilot Programs Improve Local Health & Health Care Access

Funding awarded by the DST is intended to support new, innovative, transformational ideas to address the unique needs of our diverse communities across the Benton, Lincoln and Linn County region. The DST is committed to supporting projects that promote community-driven and community-focused approaches to health and wellbeing by including and elevating the lived experiences and ideas of communities facing health disparities caused by systemic oppression.

Pilot projects should either be a new idea, bring in an existing idea that would be new to our region, or carried out in a new, creative way. Proposals that emphasize opportunities for new learning, partnerships and collaboration, especially across different sectors, and demonstrate a depth of commitment to health equity are intentionally prioritized. Pilots should take on the challenges of changing systems and breaking down barriers.

Pilot projects for 2026 were selected from a competitive request for proposals process. The collective goal of all projects is to transform the health care delivery system while working to achieve better quality healthcare, lower costs, increase access to services, and reduce staff burnout. To be eligible for funding, all pilot projects were required to address one or more of the 2024-2028 Community Health Improvement Plan priority areas:

  • Access to Affordable Housing
  • Access to Quality Care
  • Behavioral Health
  • Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism & Equity
